ROCK ON!!!!

**go on and read this, i'll be asking for your opinion!!!

You know if you've read my blog at least periodically, that music is a very big part of my life. It helps me to remember and forget. Rev up and wind down. Wake up and fall asleep. Set me apart, keep me in common. Disagree and agree.

Recently I saw a post on another blog that poses the question, "who is the best rock band ever?" I want to research this further and find out from a "statistical" point of view, just who is/was the best rock band ever. But in the mean time, what is your opinion? MSN did an article on just this subject last March and included in their top ten, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Ramones, Pink Floyd and Bob Marley. RottenTomatoes.com lists The Clash, David Bowie and The Spiders from Mars and Queen. What about The who? Black Sabbath? I don't know, I just want to give as many examples as possible. When looking for "the most successful rock bands" The Beatles comes up evertime. With Elvis Presley in a close second with both selling over a billion albums. www.epinions.com lists the top rock songs ever and Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody tops the chart. (Party on!) sorry...

Oh well, what criteria we require to make our decision is as diverse as the list is going to be, so keep in mind that whatever you feel is the important requirements is your opinion and use that to decide.

Here is what I've gotten so far:

3 for "Led Zepplin
1 for "The Band"
1 for "The Rolling Stones"
1 for "The Eagles"
1 for "The Beatles"
1 for "Chicago"
1 for "The E Street Band"

I know from reading your blogs that you enjoy music as well, and I'm interested in finding out what you think. Tell your friends, have everyone comment with their opinion...but hey...first of all make sure you DON'T read the comments first. Make your choice, then leave it. I want unbiased, unswayed answers here, and for the love of Pete, no bribes ok????

Costume designing

I love Halloween!!

My five year old and I have been discussing his costume this year. As he told my friend, "We are still working out the details." ha ha

Anyway, I want him and his younger brother to be pirates.

I know a good costume when I dream it up. My daughter has had some great ones! I should dig out the pics and add them. She was a birthday party table one year, and other than having to sit by herself so as not to hurt anyone, it was awesome! Here's one of my daughter and nephews, they were THE power rangers, and everyone knew it!!

One of the last years she dressed up, which seems like ages ago (sob, sob) she was an oompa loompa. Yes, I'm definitely going to find those pics and post them. Of course I can't tell her I'm doing it. Maybe I'll add the first place winner Tin Man costume I was one year. That should help her accept the exposure...

Anyway, back to my sons. They, with the help of everywhere you look, want to be Star Wars characters. My youngest, who is all of 35 inches tall wants to be chewbacca. (so what if that's spelled wrong, if you can't spell it, you shouldn't be it for Halloween) Brendan simply wants to be darth vader (again, skip the spelling, I know I can look it up, but that's not the point of this story)

Yesterday, we were discussing this very subject and we came up with the Pirates of the Force series of costumes...How about Chewbacca with a peg leg. Or Bluebeard Mull? A hook on either c3p0 or R2D2 would be just fine...Add a hook, and it's all good! Alright, right before quitting, that sounded funnier, either way, this year will be loads of fun.

The first thing I'm moving to the new house is the Halloween decorations, it kills me that I'm not already displaying them!

We made so many new things last year, and purchased several things at last year's after holiday sales at the craft store that we are going to add! woohoo!

I love Halloween...

I left out the most important one!!

In the post below, I played a fun game, but left out the most important favorite! My favorite song. While this would normally be an impossible task, lately (since last week's concert) I can't get everlong by foo fighters out of my head. the accoustical version is my favorite, and that's how he sang it, along with thousands of back up singers!! It was awesome.

Weezer opened (along with kaiser kings...kaiser chiefs! yeah, kaiser chiefs) they were pretty good, but Weezer was awesome and Foo Fighters rocked HARD!! Although my favorite song was everlong, here is "Times like these" pretty excellent too...
***of course I didn't get the video to work. I need to take a vacation from work/school to have enough time to learn how to do all this coding. Maybe Christmas? ...ok, in the meantime, hum "times like these" while looking through the entries....thanks.

Gimme a "J", Gimme a "A", Gimme a "R", Gimme a "E", Gimme a "D"

I've been having a LOUSY couple of days..I'm in the middle of the hurricane part of the "when it rains it pours" episode of the century. Ok, exaggeration there, but it has been pretty crappy. My friends see this and offer their support and help, and I appreciate it greatly! There's really nothing that can be "helped" at this point, but it's great to know they are there for me!

I was blogging, as I do frequently, to make myself feel better, and saw I had a comment from a "Jared." Now, I don't know if it's him for sure, but I'm thinking the note that cheered me right up even if for just a little while, came from

<-------THIS handsome devil!

This is my nephew Jared. He is the only child of my only brother and is a sweetie! He is the only one of my nephews, and nieces now that I think of it, that will still show affection (ok, maybe not nieces-Chelsea is pretty generous with hugs and Tori is quick to give an affectionate ORG!), but definitely nephews for sure! He is the huggiest and kissiest kid I know! He has a wonderful sense of humor, and at least acts like he gets mine!

We don't exactly live near each other, so when we get together, it's a real treat! Sometimes he'll stay for a couple days in the summer or over breaks and we rummage through my craft crap to find something to do. We made these AWESOME bird houses last year when he was here, he brought a bagillion popsicle sticks with him and we went to town!

Jared was born early, two months and one day early (the one day is because if he had been born one day later, we'd share a birthday!) But he was a couple months early and was pretty small. He had to stay in the hospital extra time and that was hard for all of us! But he is a healthy pre-teen (WAAAHHHHHH!!) now. I have to tell you about the "warming of the cockles of my heart" episode I had with Jared when he was just an infant. I was holding him in the rocker, and singing to him. I was sort of holding him on one of my legs, so I should look at him, and he could look back. As I rocked and sang...His little eyes closed slowly and he fell asleep in my hands. I cried.

Jared shares my (and all of my family except Dillon's) enthusiasm for the Steelers. I don't think Jared and I have EVER had a problem with not haveing something to talk about! We have just that much in common. The picture up there (in case you can't see the big metal object behind him) was taken in Philadelphia when he came with us to Nationals (Gymnastics) last year, it was AWESOME that he got to come with us, and we had soooooo much fun!

Well, I just hope Jared knows that I think it's great that he cares enough to read my blog to see what's going on in my life, and that I love him more than I could ever try to type on here.

HUGS and KISSES to you Jared!!!

Quotes and quotas

Ok, the quote of the millennium was created, and I heard it for myself!! Lucky for you guys, I'm a sharing sort of person and don't really care that you'll know I associate with the type of person to come up with this...Ok, here goes...

"If you can't afford a divorce, then you shouldn't get one."

Word for word, there it is. Makes no more sense if used in context either. If you agree with it, nevermind, and I'll probably divorce you too.
