5 year old worries

Here is last night's conversation with my five year old...Love you punkin!

Brendan: Mom, look (pointing at TV) it's a tornado
Me: No hon, that's a hurricane
Brendan: Is that the same?
Me: No a hurricane starts on the water and causes flooding and really does bad things to the town it goes to.
Brendan: Where is it going?
Me: Texas
Brendan: (sounding genuinely worried) MOM! What about sandy??
Me: Sandy who?
Brendan: Sandy cheeks (spongebob's friend)
Me: Sandy will be ok honey, I'm sure of it.
Brendan: How do you know?
Me: Because Sandy is not real honey.
Brendan: Oh yeah....But what about the real people?
Me: Most of them are already driving to another place to make sure they are safe.
Brendan: That's horrible mom, it's just terrible, that means they have to pack!

Ok, so I'm still proud that he sympathizes with those having to uproot their lives because of a hurricane.

"Out of the mouths of babes" for sure! Kids these days are more perceptive than we like to give them credit for. You should hear what my little ones come up with sometimes.
Tell your little one that Patrick and Squidward will keep Sandy safe in Bikini Bottom!

How cute! I'd feel for anyone that had to pack too...I hate packing. Hate unpacking more!
