City Seeks Help To Find Odor
State to Assist In Effort
POSTED: 10:36 am EDT September 21, 2005
CLEVELAND -- People around downtown Cleveland have been asking, "What stinks?"
The city thinks it knows, but it's asking for help from state officials.
The Cleveland Division of Air Quality has received dozens of complaints this year about a strong odor coming from the industrial part of the Flats.
Air pollution inspectors traced the smell to General Environmental Management and asked the waste treatment plant to fix the problem. The company says it put in a deodorizing mist system and has drawn up a nuisance abatement plan, but Clevelanders are still holding their noses.
The city has now asked the state attorney general's office to get involved.
General Environmental's president says he and his employees don't notice any odor.
UMM...THIS IS NEWS? CLEVELAND STINKS?
(sorry amy, this was way too easy)
